What Do I See?

As I wonder the halls during school hours, it is amazing to see the different varieties of technology being used. The Computer Technology room has a projector projecting a welcome to class and warm-up PowerPoint. The self-contained Special Education classrooms have Smartboards and have their students come up and touch an object as they say the name of the object. The science classrooms are frequently checking out the weather station. The 6th grade history and English classes are using COW’s. And every so often you can find the clickers being used to review for a test or take a quiz, however that is harder to catch from the hall because they are handheld devices.

I have seen some teachers stay away from technology, but the school really pushes teachers to integrate it somehow into the lessons. There is a lot of PBL going on in the school, the across the curriculum learning really emphasises to students the importance of a topic. From my perspective, one grade level is technology based and the other two grade levels are traditional based. However, I try to incorporate technology as much as possible, whether it be finding a recipe online, creating a presentation on the computer, or completing a web-quest. These are just a few of the ways I have incorporated technology into the classroom!
